Bryan's Bridge is finished!

Bryan's Bridge

It has taken a long time, but the bridge construction is finally finished.
The photo above is the old bridge. The area was flooding, the road was uneven.
Cement was crumbling and water was eroding the supporting structure.
There was debris under the bridge too, as many kayak and canoe users found out.

After almost two years, the work is done. The bridge was raised, drainage was added.
A new road surface is now in place. It was a big job involving cranes and heavy machinery.
Living in the area, it became inconvenient to drive that way, but it's over and done!
I hope the people who decorated the bridge (Sayville Garden Club?) each December, do so again.

Just north of the bridge in Sayville, the water's surface is beginning to freeze and a light snow covered the branches.

Bryan's Bridge

Bryan's Bridge, originally uploaded by Alida's Photos.

Bryan's Bridge, in Sayville, decorated for the winter holidays.

This old bridge over Brown's River was dedicated to Bryan E. Schneck, a neighbor boy, then young man, who died in 1997.
This bridge is a favorite spot for people to fish and catch crabs.
Every year it is decorated for the holidays.
